A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Trailer Reveals January 2021 Release Date

A Discovery of Witches dropped the trailer and release date for its upcoming season 2 at New York Comic Con. The show will arrive in January 2021.

A Discovery of Witches unveiled the trailer for its forthcoming season 2 at New York Comic Con, confirming the show’s January 2021 premiere date. A Discovery of Witches is a British fantasy drama adapted from Deborah Harkness’ All Souls trilogy and named after the first book in the series. The show, which features Teresa Palmer, Matthew Goode, Edward Bluemel, Louise Brealey, Malin Buska, Aiysha Hart, Owen Teale, Alex Kingston, and Valarie Pettiford, premiered on Sky One in September 2018, before being subsequently renewed through season 3 in November 2018. On Saturday, the show held its virtual NYCC panel, where it revealed some updates about season 2.

During A Discovery of Witches‘ NYCC panel, Sky One dropped the official trailer and release date for the show’s season 2. The book-based show, which premieres January 8, 2021, sees Diana (Palmer) and Matthew (Goode) successfully travel through time into the year 1590. Now in Elizabethan London, Diana searches for the ‘right teacher’ to help her master her skills as a witch. Meanwhile, Matthew looks for the Book of Life. The Congregation is wary of Diana and Matthew’s intentions, and it’s pursuing the hunt for the two. A Discovery of Witches season 2 trailer also offers the first look at James Purefoy’s Philippe de Clermont, Sheila Hancock’s witch Alsop, and Paul Rhys’ Andrew Hubbard.

While the trailer is stunning and earnestly loyal to its 16th-century setting, it’s agonizingly difficult to keep track of all the characters that it features. A Discovery of Witches boasted a brilliant ensemble in season 1, and in season 2 it added several more characters. Now how the show goes about balancing its characters in the different timelines is something that viewers will only know when they watch the show. On a lighter though, Diana and Matthew’s chemistry charming evolved in season 2. Sparks fly when the two hold hands and gaze at each other lovingly in the trailer.
